So, the crowds are bigger. Was standing at a spot where we had to wait 15 minutes to get "in to" an outdoor brewery.
Talking to a guy and somehow "Covid longhaulers" comes up. He says "what is it. Never heard of it." I explain it and he says something like, "many viruses linger for a few weeks." I say this is a little different and is lasting months even if the virus clears.
So, I say there is a drug trial for it. He seems interested. So, I mention that a Stanford doctor is one of the world wide experts. He says, "I'm a physician and I work at Stanford."
I say, do you know Bruce Patterson. He says "yes" and steps back a little bit. I say something like, "he isn't at Stanford any more" but he is very prominent in this area.
The guy doesn't say much, and I said, "so you know Bruce and you don't really have anything further to say?" And he just nods. He says something like, "you really need evidence to start promoting theories."
Anyway....I had two major takeaways:
1. It is crazy that this Stanford physician, who had treated covid patients, had never heard of long haulers. I think we (on this board) know more about Covid than most doctors.
2. This guy didn't have the highest opinion of Dr. Patterson.
Oh, well. There you have it. No conclusions. Just two observations. The beer was good.
