The new B.1.351 has Pfizer and Moderna scrambling and it seems to me the CDC is playing fire here. We could run into a variant where nothing works and no therapeutics as a stop gap. We could easily run into a Worldwide disaster without having worked on a multitude of therapeutics to slow it down.
This could turn into the yearly flu where each year we get shots trying to chase down the next variant. If we guess wrong a bunch of people die.
