To go on a rant, I have to say the world government agency’s have done a terrible job in this pandemic. What could operation warp speed done? They could have jumped in with helping where it is needed instead of at the end when all the hard work is done. What if, the government decided they are not going to rely on a tiny company to raise the funds and gather trial patients themselves and they mandated hospitals to recruit ASAP. What if the FDA gathered data on all Covid patients and organized it as the placebo to be compared against any treatment? Individual trials would not need to do the placebo arm at all, they could use what ever placebo group they wanted to determine how to further develop possible therapies quickly. It does not take money to speed this up, it just take smarts and less politics.
