Qualitative antibody tests are good for determining whether the testee has antibodies or not.
Quantitative antibody tests can tell how much antibodies your body has, which is more useful information.
Antigen tests are best for finding the most virulent or infectious testees at an early stage. A negative result means odds are excellent the testee is not infectious today. The UK Businesses seem to be very excited to test their employees and Germany reports stores can't keep them on the shelves. A very legit use for finding carriers, as you say.
