It was only a short time ago that I was singing his praises and crediting him with getting the second half of the trial filled so quickly. Now we come to find out though that the trial had nowhere near enough critical patients to achieve statistical significance.
If you're recruiting a trial with mortality as the endpoint, why on Earth would you not emphasize that patients who are more likely to die should be recruited? Where did his messaging go wrong? I think he pushed too hard to get anyone and everyone into CD12 and that's why there simply were not enough critical patients to demonstrate efficacy.
Honestly, I'm beside myself about how few critical patients were recruited. Clearly our messaging was all wrong to these clinicians. With only 28 days to prove Leronlimab worked, we should not have had so many severe patients in the trial. At least a 50/50 mix would have made the results statistically significant.
