Cal you have repeatedly stated that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are "95% effective against s/c covid-19, not m/m". This is just not what the trial data said, it's what you have convinced yourself is true.
my response:
In the Phizer/Biontech Vaccine Trial.....
It was not practical to test all 8,000 participants for the virus, only those who were symptomatic were tested. Thus, any asymptomatic covid-19 folks were not found as they were not tested. (Moderna trial also could not and did not test all 30,000 folks)
In the early days of the pandemic, scientists were uncertain if those who showed no signs of illness were infectious. They have since discovered that 40% to 45% of COVID-19-positive individuals are asymptomatic — and also that those asymptomatic individuals carry just as much virus in their throats, lungs, and nasal passages as those showing symptoms. (Thus infection rates would be substantially higher than the vaccine trials claimed)
(Mild/Moderate) "Suspected" covid-19 cases were not confirmed because they were not tested. Among 3410 total cases of suspected (mild symptoms) but unconfirmed (not tested) COVID-19 in the overall study population, 1594 occurred in the vaccine group vs 816 in the placebo group.
False negatives are very common with the swab tests. Other tests are not 100% accurate.
