I think recruitment will be easy. If you (or your intubated unconscious loved one) can have a 50/50 chance of getting a drug that has a really good safety profile, and which might save their life or get them off the ventilator, wouldn't you want to take it?
It would be one thing if there were significant bad side effects. But Brilacidin does NOT have bad side effects.
If I were looking at the clinical trial, I'd say, "The worst that can happen is that I get saline, which I probably need anyway because I'm probably a bit dehydrated. And the best that can happen is that the drug works and maybe I won't be a long-hauler or die."
