In the 1950's...upstate New York you had various degrees of what we see but respect was more about respect and not getting into other peoples business unless they crossed you. Sexual crap probably started going wrong in the democrat party many many years ago so Abe Lincoln basically said enough of that crap and started the republican party to get away from those strange ones.
