The problem is that it's still a drug trial of an "experimental" drug. Just because the FDA granted an open label extension doesn't mean that it automatically becomes a known entity. Most doctors won't try something they have no knowledge of and just because the hospital is running a trial doesn't guarantee that they 1) actually know anything about it, and 2) that they are in any way comfortable with their patients taking anything that isn't approved. It's sad, but that's unfortunately how it goes sometimes. Plus these hospitals are often running multiple trials and they may be for drugs that carry more weight because they got more press (like Remdesivir or plasma) or because a colleague went to bat for it. The only "good" news is that hopefully that problem will go away shortly after our results are publicized. With an EUA and tons of media coverage you won't see as many doctors be so unwilling to consider it. Don't give up though, it's worth fighting for. Do all that you can. Good luck.
