Single Tweet FAQ on Rapid Tests
Q: Are there a lot of False Positives?
A: No. Newer rapid tests like Innova and Abbott show lower FP rates than PCR. A recent UK trial of Innova Test, and our Trial each found ZERO false positives out of >12,000 tests combined.
With other tests without such high specificity - solution is simple - repeat immediately with another rapid test. Can be same test or, ideally a different company.
But they do NOT need to be confirmed with PCR. Leverage the fact that they are RAPID and use together. Simple.
And on False Negatives (I'll do another FAQ) - these tests are very very high sensitivity when people are infectious.
When doing 2x/week testing - we found 100% sensitivity.
Arguments that these are low sensitivity is missing POST-infectious people. Not public health concern.
