That English Captain George Vancouver sailed his butt off around the Pacific Northwest in the early 1700’s exploring every little river passage looking for a short cut through North America but never found what was to be a passage. But he tried and he claimed land and islands for England as did Spain and Spanish explorer’s. Hence all the Spanish named islands in Puget Sound. Just a little history lesson from the PNW.
