The Beta used to be above one in the period you mentioned from what I saw. Maybe eTrade is all wrong. Maybe also depends on what period of time one is looking at.
When the sp is low and the volume is low, it's easier to manipulate which drives a higher beta. .20 up or down is a big percentage move percentage, but I didn't say Verb is a safe stock, but it does have lower risk than before. Not sure there are safe Nasdaq stocks. There is a band of reddit people that could swoop in, on a stock.
Bank CD's and Savings bonds might be safer. At least my Grandma told me that. Putting money in a mattress no so much which is what my Daddy said. While that is a low beta, it's high risk as any fool would know.
Money in the walls like the Ozarks, same thing. Then there is the burying your money which has proven to be pretty safe for hundreds of years, but some forget where they hid it. In Westerns they always find it anyway. I like the scene in The Good, Bad and the Ugly.
One thing is for sure, fund managers are buying more than before and new ones as well. Just saw Renaissance Technologies Llc bought $649K last quarter. Nothing to sneeze at. I hope they weren't lulled into getting their investment advice off a message board for crying out loud.
