News from the land of Covid:
My sweet beautiful mother passed of Covid on Jan 23 and we buried her yesterday. Now she is reunited with my dad and my grandparents. She never would have been a candidate for leronlimab, as her Covid was never severe. She was nearly 84 years old and had advanced dementia. She had declined significantly since breaking her hip a year and half ago. The Covid, in many ways, came as a release. It depleted her and she slept for 16 days and then passed peacefully in her sleep.
My mother's passing is a deeply saddening thing for me personally. I also learned that out of 9 residents at her memory care, 4 died and 5 survived.
Sadly also, in January, I tried to help two younger people (family of friends) who were hospitalized and ventilated with severe Covid. One was a man, age 64. Another a woman in her late 30's to mid 40's with two children. One was a friend's stepdad and the other a friend's cousin. I gave them both information about leronlimab and told them I would help them with the EIND process as much as I could. Sadly, neither family pursued it and both of these humans are now deceased.
I am too tired to be angry, but I do feel all these deaths were avoidable, even my mom's. Even though I have peace about her passing, I would have liked to be able to see her again.
I pray that we get approval very soon because I think those two families didn't go for it because, even though I tried to explain it as best as I could and provide them with information, it just seemed too strange to them or to the doctors involved.
Prayers for a better future for us all.
