Reuters, February 1, 2021 - Jerome Powell, chairman of the Federal Reserve, announced today a new lending vehicle for distressed hedge funds. The Distressed Hedge Fund Program (DHFP) is available to all US based hedge funds with at least 100 million in assets. Hedge funds can borrow up to 8 billion dollars at 0.0 to negative 0.5 percent interest rates with up to a 50 year repayment schedule. Powell stated, “these funds need our support to ensure continued stability in the financial markets and we will supply necessary capital without limit to achieve these goals.”
