One of the flaws of the human race is the inability to allow for gaps in understanding. Our brain is conditioned to fill in the gaps when we don't understand what is happening. We can't just accept that we don't know.
It's why we believed in the greek gods, it's why we have multiple religions, it's the cause of conspiracy theories.
At any rate we as a group don't understand why the HIV indication hasn't been approved. In an attempt to fill in the blanks some of us blame the fda. Some blame Nadar. The reasoning has more to do with predisposition, than evidence. In other words, those that don't like Nadar are more likely to see the indications that it's his fault. Those that like Nadar see things that lead them to believe that the FDA is out to get us.
Either could be true, or there could be an entirely different explanation. We don't know. I suspect it has more to do with being a start up biotech that is learning as it goes. The FDA doesn't have time to teach.
Why do I think they are going to do the right thing? Because I believe we have one of only a few drugs that are going to save lives. They have time for that. If our drug has a substantial reduction in mortality mountains will be moved.
A better option for HIV is not urgent. So they are more likely to play hot potato. With COVID they basically just said "just give it to us, we will take the data and do it for you.". To me this is a pretty clear indication that they are motivated to help.
