Unfortunately for us CYDY investors, I'm not sure that is the case that MVC can't be used safely for the same immunomodulatory indications as LL. Likewise for the other CCR5 small molecules in development, vicriviroc, cenicriviroc (blocks CCR2 and CCR5), and Orion's OB-002, which is 5P12-RANTES, a CCR5/RANTES chemokine analog.
What side effects can Maraviroc cause?
Maraviroc may cause side effects. Many side effects from HIV medicines, such as nausea or occasional dizziness, are manageable. See the HIV info fact sheet on HIV Medicines and Side Effects for more information.
Some side effects of maraviroc can be serious. Serious side effects of maraviroc include liver problems, heart problems (including heart attack), skin reactions, and allergic reactions. An allergic reaction may happen before liver problems occur.
Other possible serious side effects of maraviroc include:
Low blood pressure when standing up (postural hypotension). This can cause dizziness or fainting.
Changes in your immune system (called immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome or IRIS). IRIS is a condition that sometimes occurs when the immune system begins to recover after treatment with an HIV medicine. As the immune system gets stronger, it may have an increased response to a previously hidden infection.
Possible increased risk of other infections or cancer.

Side effects requiring immediate medical attention
Along with its needed effects, Maraviroc may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking maraviroc:
More common
Body aches or pain
burning or stinging of the skin
chills
cough producing mucus
coughing
difficulty with breathing
dizziness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
ear congestion
headache
loss of voice
pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
painful blisters on the trunk of the body
painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals
sneezing
sore throat
stuffy or runny nose
tightness of the chest
troubled breathing
unusual tiredness or weakness
A very large number of these don't show up with VX (at least have not been reported in 800+ patients). So safety is a very good reason
