Canadian PM Justin Trudeau Criticizes Biden For Revoking Keystone Pipeline Permit
BY RUSTY WEISS
JANUARY 21, 2021 AT 2:51PM

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “disappointed” in President Biden’s executive order that would revoke a key permit for the Keystone XL pipeline.

Trudeau’s comments come as the company behind the construction of the pipeline said work on the project was being suspended.

“While we welcome the President’s commitment to fight climate change, we are disappointed but acknowledge the President’s decision to fulfill his election campaign promise on Keystone XL,” Trudeau said.

On his first day in office, Biden signed a series of executive orders that included revoking “permits signed over the past 4 years that do not serve the U.S. national interest, including revoking the Presidential permit granted to the Keystone XL pipeline.”

Odd how climate concerns only involve pipelines granted permits over the last four years.

Also pretty impressive how Trudeau expresses disappointment but shrugs his shoulders because, ‘Well, he said it during the campaign so he has to do it.’

different this is a post

Where is PM Trudeau on this? Nowhere to be seen when he's needed most.

Biden is threatening to pull the already built pipe out of the ground, that would be an unprecedented move. I hope he will reconsider as that would hurt a lot of Albertans.

Justin Trudeau Upset That Biden Killed the Keystone Pipeline
It isn’t just Justin Trudeau who has an issue with Biden killing the Keystone pipeline project.

Canadian officials have condemned the move saying that canceling the project would hurt both countries and “weaken the critically important Canada-U.S. relationship, and undermine U.S. national security.”

here is something else

A report in 2017 by Real Clear Energy described the Keystone XL pipeline as “vital” to U.S. energy independence – something achieved during the remarkable first term of President Trump.

Biden’s decision moves the country back toward reliance on foreign energy markets controlled by OPEC and other oil cartels.

Promises Made, Jobs Lost
As with any good radical environmentalist, President Biden is not concerned about balancing the need for jobs and energy independence with environmental concerns, he just wants a scorched-earth referendum on the fossil fuel industry.

Unfortunately, that translates to jobs lost.

Justin Trudeau understands that Biden canceling the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline will result in thousands of jobs lost.

By killing the project Biden will eliminate about 11,000 U.S. jobs, including 8,000 union jobs. And the unions sure took notice.

A statement by Mark McManus, General President of The United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA), hammers President Biden for the move.

“In revoking this permit, the Biden Administration has chosen to listen to the voices of fringe activists instead of union members and the American consumer on Day 1,” McManus said.

“Sadly, the Biden Administration has now put thousands of union workers out of work,” he continued. “For the average American family, it means energy costs will go up and communities will no longer see the local investments that come with pipeline construction.”
