Rubraquercus posted a link to Dr. John Campbell's
Post# of 148175
While looking at that video, I noticed another video by him that was just posted today. I had never heard of him. Found out that he is a retired nurse teacher (PhD) based in England who teaches in England, Asia and Africa. He has done post-graduate training in pharmacology and bioscience. He has made several youtube videos somewhat like Dr. Yo. I thought there were a few interesting topics in his video today. He has 3 main concerns:
1. Number of cases in the US.
2. The UK variant
3. Vaccination program is not going well due to supply constraints.
No surprise in the above, but he gave some statistics and ideas relevant to Leronlimab.
Number of new positive cases per capita is about the same in UK and US and both are decreasing. The difference is the UK is in lockdown mode and has already seen a high number of the UK variant.
Denmark was where the US was about 4 – 6 weeks ago but they are now trending down sharply to less than about 30% of the US per capita rate. (Note: the charts he uses require somewhat broad extrapolation.) Again, however, Denmark is locked down and has already seen the UK variant.
In December Ireland went from less than 100 positives/day to about 1300. They had a sharp trend up and an equally sharp trend down. Their per capita positive is now below the US. Ireland is under a strict lockdown and has seen the UK variant.
In Denmark the UK variant is increasing 70%/week. Denmark does sequence testing on 100% of their positive cases whereas the US sequences 0.3%. He thinks the US is starting to have a problem with the UK variant but we do not know it due to lack of testing.
The UK variant may be up to 30% more deadly but that is far from certain. It spreads about 55% faster and is in 50 countries.
Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines are expected to be effective for UK variant but not sure about South African and Brazilian variants.
Bottom line: Dr. Campbell is concerned about US cases because of slow vaccine rollout, reluctance to lockdown, and increasing cases of UK variant.
It is hard to imagine what the demand may be for Leronlimab within a couple of months.
