"Distinct inflammatory profiles distinguish COVID-19 from influenza with limited contributions from cytokine storm"

The glaring problem with this study is that evidently the researchers did not know that Covid-19 is expressed in two distinct phases: the virulogic phase and the immunologic phase. They took blood samples UPON DIAGNOSIS of disease and analyzed those blood samples for cytokines not realizing the patients were most likely still in the virulogic phase.
"In addition, we focused on the first blood sample collected from each subject, which, in more than 75% of enrolled subjects, was collected from the patient at the same time that the treating team learned of the patient’s COVID-19 diagnosis."
