I used to watch that show a lot, not really any more. Regardless, I can't recall any of them ever investing in a publicly traded company. But what I do remember is that there are two things that contestants could say that got them shut down right away.
The first is that the company doesn't have any revenue to speak of, but the specific industry, otherwise, has multi-billion dollar potential. Uniformly viewed as irrelevant by the panelists.
The second is when fledgling companies are run by CEOs who pay themselves a disproportionate amount of money, relative to earnings. Viewed, also uniformly, as showing insufficient dedication to the task at hand.
I used to think that SFT could possibly go on that show and get someone who's a tech savvy success, like Cuban, to invest and use his contacts and know how to grow the business. Now I'm pretty sure he'd pass.
