I am a Doctor. The answers already given are correct. "PEEP" is positive end expiratory pressure. The alveolar units in the lung are little sacks in the lungs that exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide. Increasing the PEEP keeps these little sacks open so they do a more efficient job. If the PEEP goes too high, then the alveolar units become over distended and don't work so well again.
PaO2/FiO2 has to do with keeping the amount of oxygen shown by an arterial blood gas check in a good range by the amount of oxygen going into the lungs.
Patients who meet the above parameters are very sick and will most probably die. Not including this subgroup into the study is a plus for the results for leronlimab, as these patients will most likely die no matter what you try to do for them.
If I've oversimplified this, I apologise, but the concepts remain.
