Before MS-DOS there was a little company in Seattle Washington called Seattle Computer. The original DOS was developed there by a computer programmer called Tim Paterson.
Bill gates sold this operating system to IBM then went and bought the operating system from Seattle Computer for $50,000. Then selling it to all hardware computer makers of the time.
I believe they made a movie about it. I believe it was called “ The Pirates of Silicon Valley” I am not positive about that name... it’s been a long time.
