Trump might fly Air Force One to a rally in Florida on Inauguration Day,

President Trump is considering a made-for-TV grand finale: a White House departure on Marine One and a final Air Force One flight to Florida for a political rally opposite Joe Biden's inauguration, sources familiar with the discussions tell Axios.

Why it matters: The former network star is privately discussing using his waning powers as commander in chief to order up the exit he wants after dissing Biden by refusing to concede the election, welcome him to the White House or commit to attending his inauguration.

The big picture: The Trump talk could create a split-screen moment: the outgoing president addressing a roaring crowd in an airport hangar while the incoming leader is sworn in before a socially distanced audience outside the Capitol, as NBC News first reported.

Did we expect anything different?

Here's my solution: At 12:01 pm on January 20, President Biden, using his power as Commander-in-Chief, orders Air Force One to immediately return to Andrews. Since Trump holds his rallies in a hangar with AF1 in background, the television audience would be treated to watching the aircraft start up all four engines (thus drowning out any ranting he was doing) and pull decisively away from now-citizen Trump, symbolizing his total loss of power.

And if the aircraft made a turn as it left its parking spot the crowd stuffed into the hangar would have the pleasure of being subjected to the sound and exhaust of four huge turbofan engines before they're chased out of the hangar by the military police, if the rally is being held on a military base.

Alternate plan B: If Trump plans on flying over the Capitol at noon during the oath of office as one last "fuck you" to democracy, the moment he is sworn in as CinC Biden instructs AF1 to divert to JFK International Airport, where Trump will be met by the appropriate New York City and state officers to arrest him. Now that is a split-screen image I'd pay good money to see.

Finally, there should be an all-out effort to let the network and cable news networks know that if they spit screen anything on inaugural day every one of their sponsors will be contacted and informed their products are going to be boycotted.
