Hi all, just an observation. I am an airline pilot and fly all over the country. I try to talk to folks I meet about their COVID situation and their tests vs. deaths. One thing I am hearing and seeing is that in warmer climate States with a lot of sunshine (vitamin D), there is far less deaths and hospitalizations. I lived in FL before and have DR. Friends there. They just are not seeing the hospitalizations and deaths that Northern States are. They also report high comorbidity in the deaths they do have. Same for AL and TX. With the winter, there is an increase in States with less sunshine and colder temps. This seems like common sense to me. As for the media, all I can say is never forget they are businesses and make money on drama. I take everything they say with a grain of salt.
We practice all the common sense protocols when flying. With tens of thousands of flights around lots of people we have had 2 deaths and 54 hospitalizations due to COVID. The two deaths had high comorbidities. We do have some long haulers.
My overall point is, everyone should consider what State they live in and their perspective before getting angry with others over theirs. This disease is not one size fits all and is working in manners we still do not fully understand.
