GVHD trials are hard to recruit for in the best of times. In the middle of a pandemic it's near impossible. There are over a dozen pre-COVID GVHD trials that were terminated because of lack of recruitment including maraviroc.
GVHD is not a disease that's on the front burner for drug companies because there are only a small number of patients with terminal GVHD so it's not a money maker. That small number of patients also leads to not being able to recruit.
