Well I need to introduce you to my neighbor. Let me just say you will need to take my word which I know you would. My neighbor took me out between 35-40 miles out 135 foot of water. It was one of his GPS sites that he has in the computer. I didn't have the live bait on the bottom before it got hit. We didn't know what was on it but said most likely a AJ since he said that would be fun. After setting the hook properly instead of me jerking the hell out of the line it was like having your line snagged on the bottom not much after about one minute. I mean this fish was just swimming around like it didn't have a care in the world. I then started trying to pull up on the rod and then reel it down back and forth. I would gain a little bit in my mind. My buddy started taping the event and turned on music. He said the fish is winning as each time you pull up the more he is moving out as he was tuned to the drag spinning. The harder I pulled the worse it was beating me up and drag running. I rested for seconds then again and again this Amber was wrapping me around each side of the boat. I started gaining massive slack and thought I lost him. I finally reeled enough to know he was coming up but thought nothing of this. (40 minutes had already past) I didn't see him running near the surface, my elbows were bleeding from being pulled down near the sides on his boat. All of a sudden F-ing nothing the line went slack. My buddy said you should have seen the size of it, I said I didn't see jack $hit. Tape and sound recording still going. He said a shark hit that huge Amberjack. He is on social media with the picture marks with me holding head to my left. Salty it is so big it is unbelievable and I didn't even see the shark hit or my Jack but I did get two bloody elbows, a personal movie and 10 minutes of fame with a photo of this massive fish head.
I only eat grouper this was fun for me and would have given it to my buddy as he can cook any type of fish.
