Took me longer to get to that realization- several years of being horrified at seeing job posting for journalist positions that required marketing and advertising degrees- with 'increasing brand awareness' as a main purpose of the job. Did I mention horrified?
Off-the-mark backgrounds are common now- (and women have to be above a 7 on the pretty scale) but not absolute. IMO- there remains a sprinkling of competence and integrity in some 'news' media organizations and there is still an audience (albeit getting smaller) that are willing to pay for the real thing. And also IMO- there will come a time in the near future when leron - and other treatments as well- will be covered not only by the good ones but the shotty biased ones as well. To stay current - they will have to.

Years ago, I stopped viewing the news as unbiased reporting (the 80's) and realized it was more like the paid advertisements that come on at 4am. It's a lot less frustrating that way
