Difficult to say... I'm on the side of the "unlikely" crowd, but there may be other factors: remnants from other viral infections, current ones (HIV), or an undiscovered mechanism for SC2, analogous to reverse transcriptase, that would allow that to happen. If there are quasi-persistent extra-nuclear reservoirs or some mechanism for self-propogation of SC2 RNA, I'd be more inclined to believe that.
