If that's what they did, it is wrong, but 402/257 not = 1.37.
My impression was that the DSMC message was "continue at your current benefit ratio to 402 patients (thus reducing your standard error by sqrt(257/402)) and you will be significantly better than 1.29."
That would allow back calculation of the 1.37.
But my memory could be wrong - it's been a while.
