The surge of votes for Biden occurred because of the predicted and known progression of counting mail-in votes second, and the in-person votes first.
People voted for Biden overwhelmingly through the mail, as non-stupid people wanted to avoid waiting in voter suppression lines and an extra exposure to potential covid. So the trumpsters voted in person, and their votes got counted first, which put trump ahead temporarily.
When they finished that step, the mail-ins were tallied, and they were mostly Biden votes. So the temporary lead for shitgibbon was easily predictable, even though when all votes started to be counted he fell behind quickly.
