The point I was making is that the vast majority of people are ill equipped to withstand manipulation, regardless of the source, especially if they entrust all their data to a single resource. Using a slow drip of believable lies, a subtle manipulation can take root. This is how cults are formed. With the availability of a multitude of internet resources, it is imperative that a person diversify their data intake, and analyze the information with some common sense reasoning (if they have it).

The techniques of Misinformation, Disinformation, and Disguising the Truth all have a kernel of truth/reality, this is why they are effective. Sometimes this can innocently happen when a person tells an embellished story. However, it is a most effective nefarious tool.
