You may miss some of the discourse if you put inappropriate posters on ignore, but it is worth it.
Very infrequently I will see a response to a poster that I have blocked and go back to find the blocked post. Mostly I find the experience of this board immensely improved by blocking objectionable posters.
My thanks to the moderators who see all the posts and are tasked with deleting the inappropriate posts.
