The issues with hospitals and health care companies, in general, is they are "for profit". Therefore, when costs go up, or claims go up, they just raise rates charged in monthly premiums or cut benefits or both. They need to pay their shareholders their dividends, so they can not show a loss, or use their reserves. That is what is broken in our system IMO. Ironically, my healthcare plan is dropping my premiums for 2021 by 7.5%. Yeah, until you look at the fine print. Now they charge a $250 deductible for prescriptions before they start covering. They raised the individual out of pocket from $6,100 to $6,600. And if you need a preferred drug, that is no longer a $75 copay, it's 50% of the cost which could be HUGE for someone that needs a name brand.
Bottom line, I'd be happy to jump on Medicare at age 60.
