Due to gaps in HIV services, Worldwide 690,000 DIED from HIV-related causes in 2019. 1.7 million were newly infected. Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, and Zimbabwe... the former at 27%..the latter at 22% the vast majority by far in Sub-Saharan Africa. In the USA, 40,000 plus infected with HIV..gay and bisexual men makeup about 82% of infections but account for only 4% of the total male population.
African Americans make up 45% of infections..but only reflect 12% of the population at large.
31 drugs reviewed..10 had generics..globally the top drug for the treatment of HIV/AIDS in 2018 was GenVoya with revenues of 4.6 Billion..second was Truvada generating 3 Billion in USD..both marketed by our friends at Gilead. Truvada MAY have a generic in its pipeline.
