It is sad that there is a grab at corruption and wealth for some pharmaceutical companies. Not just here but around the world. Like Your example in India.
I wonder what the driving forces are beside just money for the current big Pharmaceutical company. Is there real hope that science will prevail and even though they have no repeatable verified proof of efficacy. Yet they seek approval just for the mighty dollar? Hoping nobody will say that it doesn’t work? Does it matter that it didn’t work to them? Will they be forced to repay the money like the 500 million the E.U. spent the day before WHO came out and said Remdesivir doesn’t do anything. Will they repay the money the US spent too and any other country that bought Remdesivir? Will they have to be sued after the pandemic. What liability will Gilead have for those bamboozled by Gilead? How much liability will the FDA have in this, not only EUA but BLA full approval? How do they justify full approval without improved results after the EUA?
I wonder if there is a free pass written into these pandemic situations where drugs are immune from liability and maybe the FDA are also immune during this time? If immunity is somehow true then this is a huge corruptible situation. What are the reasons anyone would be involved in this unfounded situation of approvals. Is it only grab the money before they figure out we don’t really work? Is it the government hoping the modest at best results will give hope to the people that need critical help most? That hope alone is so important to healing some people. How does one justify these moves from either position? Government regulator or pharmaceutical.
Why is there this grab at huge money with just hope and a prayer that it might work? Some companies like us pay the price and have to prove without a doubt we work but some companies push and push to sew ideas of miracles that don’t really happen and get preferred handling.
There use to be a time that the government performed these trials and the trials must of been much more fair for all companies. No money influence dominated. Maybe as a country or a world society we need to return to those days before the next pandemic? Maybe it’s time to not let the fox watch the hen house and hope the Fox doesn’t take what he wants when he wants. Maybe it time that the science truly dictates and the government levels the playing field amongst all companies striving to save lives by government controlled trials again?
Do we need HHS and FDA reform? Should the government do the trials for the drug companies like they use to? Will the world be smart enough to change the process for what we know will undoubtedly happen again in the next pandemic? Can we afford to let all this happen again?
Can we change the worlds perception of big Pharma’s dominance politically to make a level playing field? I believe it starts with political donations to our elected officials. Change the power of the businesses in this country and put it back in the hands of the people. Stop business donations to any political race or candidate. This influence is ruining our country and it really shows now in a pandemic more than ever. The average American isn’t doing better competing with big business for a government that was designed for the people by the people. I don’t remember it having business for the business anywhere in the constitution.
