New York wasn't like that in the 1950's however, if you drove near or passing Bethlehem Steel plant you had to shut you car windows as the smoke was so thick and honestly you would see at least 5 different colors of smoke coming out of the stacks. You could smell the strong suffer/rotten egg smell, I'm not sure but it could have been from the combinations of adding percentage of coke and coal together to control temperature. Oh the snow on the south western side of lake Erie was something to experience plus the narrow band like 3-15 miles wide produced some of the best Concord grapes. Publix carries them and purchase only one quart around 6 days ago and hope Sunday that they finally got some in.
No doubt New York and California has gotten bad over the years but as a kid in the 50's I did all the things you just read about. It's a wrap, see you tomorrow.
