Asymptomatic GPs to take one-hour Covid tests at home

GPs are among asymptomatic NHS workers who will be eligible for twice-weekly Covid swabs, using a new rapid test kit that delivers results within an hour.
All patient-facing staff will get access to regular testing, NHS England said, as the new type of test has now been scientifically validated.

I presume these tests will be voluntary? If not, then who picks up the costs of isolation? What if you’re a self-employed locum? Why should NHS workers end up having to isolate when they might not have any symptoms just because they’ve had a positive test when the general public with no symptoms don’t have to have such tests (and therefore won’t ever run the risk of being made to isolate)?
