VEXAS - it sounds like it was made to confound us, as in Vex Us.
It's about time we had a new pandemic. I'm so tired of the old one. I mean really tired, with sore throat, reduced resistance, high temp, I wanna die ... is this covid?
Announcer: Congratulations! Covid is the correct answer and now you're ready for Round Six of Beat the Reaper! You've lasted longer than anyone ever has before! Are you ready for that really big disease, contestant? OK, doctors, shoot him up!
Contestant: Oh, God! This is horrible ... it must be the plague!! (Game Over)
It almost feels like the planet is trapped in Firesign Theatre's satire on game shows mixed with viral disease pandemics, from where I stole the Beat the Reaper bit for folks unaware of this genius comedy group from way back when we were mere sprouts.
