I realize there are (and I share) issues with WHO leadership, but a friend of mine has been with them for decades and was on the ground in West Africa for months trying to contain Ebola. For all it's virulence and lethality, fortunately Ebola is not airborne... Goggles, with face shields, disposable body suits and gloves, along with adherence to strict deconamination protocols kept him and his team as well as the local medical staff protected even in the absolute epicenter of those outbreaks. These viruses are not supernatural forces; they follow parameters that, when respected, absolutely protect potential hosts.
Messaging around those parameters is another matter entirely, and it has been damaging in this pandemic.
