A lot of science is more evolutionary than absolute and that’s where I think the debate is. The science of Covid in March is different than where the science is today. Dont wear a mask in February and March by experts became wear a mask is a must starting in the summer is an example
More specifically, the US had 30 million face masks -- but was going to need 3.5 billion. Those lies were simply the administration's efforts to prevent the equivalent of bank run on masks -- which would have deprived front line hospital workers.
Pandemics are hard -- but quite a bit of the evolutionary thinking underpinning this one is actually due to ill-preparedness, mismanagement, incompetence, ignorance, and corporate corruption. Although on a completely different scale, Katrina was another shining example of this country's inability to manage a crisis.

US medical workers will need 3.5 billion face masks if the coronavirus reaches pandemic status. Right now, the country only has 1% of that number.
