Example A: (Total enrollment set at 400 patients)
At Interim analysis of 200 patients, 15% of leronlimab patients die and 40% of placebo patients die.
Example B: (Total enrollment set at 700 patients)
At Interim analysis of 350 patients, 15% of leronlimab patients die and 40% of placebo patients die.
Conclusion: even the the the percents of deaths stayed the same, the p value will be better in Example B because of more patients, thus, certainty that results are accurate, is higher.
Extreme Point: If you only had 4 patients is the trial, certainty of results being indicative of a pattern would not be very high certainty.
