I am excited that the data is strong enough that we are seeing the confidence from the DSMC. But I think another interim is a mistake. We lost all enrollment momentum for this one. Let's focus on enrollment and finish the entire trial. Throw everything we have at enrollment immediately.
Or, unblind the data and go fish in other ponds
Today's PR reinforces the notion that management believes they can enroll at an average rate of 2 patients per day. As you can see in my previous posts, they believed they could hit 390 by the end of the year -- that's 2 patients per day. And now they are saying they can hit 293 (63 more than the current 230) in around a month or so -- that's, again, 2 patients per day.
Had they only used this enrollment leverage starting at the point where we hit 195, we'd be at 303 today. For a company that publicly and repeatedly stated that a halt at interim was very unlikely, I cannot understand why they simple didn't push the pedal down all the way and enroll as fast as possible.
