Re: WTF, Belgium? .... and the Sweden discussion..

Dr Yo: it seemed to me clear that he was comparing Leron to Placebo on a one to one basis, not two to one ... He wasn't even totally sure about the total size of the interim stage of the study. So if it HAD BEEN one to one, he was saying Leron needed about 30 percent or less of the total deaths... which is not that different from the 23 Placebo and 22 Leron breakdown that we are now shooting for.
Belgium has long been an outlier for Covid19 because of the way they have counted mortality. Basically they threw almost everyone in the Covid basket.... In terms of timing, no, it did not hit nations in the EU at the same time. Italy and Spain were first, then northern Europe. The UK let football stadiums go on in crowded stadiums later than other EU countries, while Italy was in total lockdown, and the UK suffered the consequences..... Sweden is much more comparable to places like Denmark (where I live), than say Italy. In Italy there are many more multigenerational families and it's more urban. Half the people in Sweden live by themselves -- in Sweden this is considered a good thing, in Italy it would not. And Sweden like Denmark has usually good medical care, better than Italy or SPain, so its place in the top dozen of motality per capita is an absolute shame. However, they then banned large gatherings, and that was a crucial step.....
