Unreal....I can tell you that I have personally seen a large doberman at a protected preserve, bark and bark and bark and bark, checked him out and tried to scurry the dog away from the area. Then heard him several hours later and then a sharp squealing from that direction then hopped in my truck and drove by and nothing to be seen. I recall a day or two perhaps longer and I seen the bloat. The area ware this gator was in wasn't that normal as it isn't more than 2-3 feet deep. They travel through area to get to a deeper place. I don't recall if it was August or not (nesting) but do recall a mound raised area (typical for gator nesting) I have a couple of stories (and I was used to these guys but the females are bad a$$es (sincerely) They are always shorter and talk about wide! unreal. Anyways I was walking in an area and didn't t see her on this side the small pond but the goose bumps all of the sudden ran up my spine and I backed up slowly and said late how in hell did I get positioned in a place that I know so well but be almost trapped. These stories about people escaping gators in strange ways are true but when gator or shark so happens to latch onto you all bets are off.
I can't say anything more about this except I was disappointed that we had easily 10 foot females that 2 men would have a time trying to circumference around her. We had 6 foot commercial fencing to keep these guys in and it was 30 feet from the roadway but not easily seen. A certain person of authority had someone cut the bottom of the fence open so they can come and go as they wish. I was so pi$$ed at that decision I almost call in the state officials due to several reasons. This was all against every principle possible.
