There are positives that come from an oral presentation at a significant medical conference. First, the work is considered to be worth listening to by research leaders in that field. So it is always an honor to get to present to the heavy hitters. The docs attending the conference are usually of significant influence and can act as a hub for disseminating the information when they get back home. Some may take a much deeper look and start using the drug and influence others at their institutions to do the same. So it is not earth shattering to present at a big conference, but, again, another nudge in the right direction for the drug.
