Leronlimab will cross the blood brain barrier attached to CCR5.
Leronlimab crossing the blood brain barrier independently. PODXL (part of the CD34 cell family) strengthens the blood brain barrier and reduces leakiness. CCR5 blockade by lowering MIP-1a downregulates CD34. It has now been shown that lowering PODXL sufficiently can allow large molecules to cross the blood brain barrier.
Interestingly overexpression of PODXL is also implicated in progression of cancer.
