Stock price manipulation and trading off of insider information is absolutely illegal.
The problem is that the SEC deals with nearly 10,000 OTC stocks on a daily basis and they simply don’t have time to act on every complaint or demonstration of rules violations.
So the retail trader is subjected to these lies and manipulations, sometimes for years on end before the SEC finally acts.
You also have to be careful for what you wish for. In most cases when the SEC has proof of violations they simply halt and suspend a stock which can lead to the Grey Market until the ticker is cancelled.
