most investors and stockbrokers i've talked to are ignorant of the otc market- it is not the same as the wild west days of pre-2000
The ignorance of stockbrokers-who probably scare big board investors who ask about OTCQX- re otc is inexcusable-
one broker i talked to for half hour said "otc stocks have no filings" - i said. "of course they do- i spend as much as 8 hrs/day reading otc filings" - i mentioned otcqx 7 times to the broker - he didnt know what otcqx was-this was years ago- finally he looked up otcqx and said it was a mutual fund!!!!! -some ppl are so ignorant i dont know how they survive
all otcqb and otcqx stocks are sec reporting and so of course they will have all sec required filings- and otc markets gets more stringent re filings over time
OTCQX
OTCQX was created ca 2009- 1st time i saw it-2009-it had 25 companies -now there are more than 400 companies-many of the OTCQX co's are foreign blue chips who enjoy the savings- no 185k/yr big board fees and not as much red tape
the ladder of stocks is :
gray/grey stocks- no bids quotes allowed -still traded but have to guess bid asks since not reported
ce stocks- skull and bones set by otc when otc considers something deficient or out of line
no info class - no filings
limited info class- either financials twice/yr or less than fully reporting financials 4 times/yr
current class -financials filings up to date -many are now SEC rerting but casnot afford the otc 10k/yr surcharge to be OTCQB or stock bid is below 1c-those requirements were added by otc in 2014-2015 as part of a political process attacking penny stocks and an attempt to eliminate stocks below 1c pps
ce no info and limited info and current are all pink sheet stocks
Then OTCQB- used to be called fully reporting-all are SEC reporting -requires 1c pps
then OTCQX-the top otc tier -used to require 10 pps min- i think thats been upped to 25c pps min but not sure
