Even Republican strategists have no clue why the party they support is doing what it's doing, but I think that the answer is pretty straightforward: TrumpCo is simply a massive, fraudulent, criminal organization which is performing a smash-and-grab operation on the American taxpayer (as well as on Republican donors).
We've known this all along of course, but it's slowly starting to dawn on GOP party loyalists that something might be amiss, which is why they're standing around scratching their heads in confusion as the whole thing starts to collapse.
