Leronlimab blocks CCR5 on the immune cells.
Those immune cells do not response to CCL5/RANTES, which is the chemotaxic cytokine released at areas of inflammation. This blocking essentially makes them blind and anosmic (unable to smell) the smoke signal of CCL5/RANTES which is being pumped out at areas of inflammation.
Those inflammatory cells then mind their own business.
“Anybody smell anything? Nope, not me.
Anyone smell anything? Nope, not me.
OK, what are we doing after work on Friday?”
That is how Leronlimab stops the release of RANTES from escalating into the cytokine storm.
